Tagio tumas to the NewZealand High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, HE Georgina Roberts and colleagues for joining #PHAMAPlus during a visit to Cathliro and the Solomon Islands Timber Processors and Exporters Association (SITPEA) site last week.
The #PHAMAPlus team was honoured to have shown the NZ delegation its support towards the development of the cocoa and sawn timber sectors in the Solomon Islands through close collaboration with key partners such as Cathliro and SITPEA.
At Cathliro, the delegation was shown how its renowned chocolates are made using innovative #cocoa processing methods and technology. And of course, the highlight was a chocolate tasting session organised by Cathliro owner Diana Yates and her awesome team.
The NZ delegation also learned of the exciting developments of the country’s sawn timber industry at the SITPEA timber yard. SITPEA Certification Manager Julius Houria highlighted their efforts pursuing international certification processes to maintain and create access to markets for sawn timber.
PHAMA Plus is an initiative supported by the Australian and New Zealand governments.
